The Flock
Quail first, then the Bresse
Every flock starts small. Ours begins with quail, grows into chickens and, we hope, the American Bresse line in time. Here's where each one stands.

The quail
The quail come first. Their housing is coming together now: layer cages with roll-out egg trays on a rack, and a separate cage for young birds.
We'll share the setup as it is, and again once birds are living in it, so you can see how it really works day to day. We'll post the breed and where our birds come from once those are settled.

The chickens
Chickens come next. We'll introduce each bird here as the flock comes together, with the American Bresse at the heart of our plans.
Hatching will be a big part of this story: setting eggs, candling day, and what the brooder looks like in those first tender weeks.
Coming in time
The Bresse Line
The American Bresse may one day be the heart of this homestead. If it begins, it will be a quiet beginning, built one hatch at a time, and this space will grow into its own page with hatch logs and notes.
